Seeing that your corpse is interred with dignity and with as little expense to your family as possible is one of the main goals of the Avbob Funeral Plan, which also provides funeral coverage for either both your spouse and your children, or just your children, at your option.
As the main member of the AvbobFuneral Plan, the monthly premium is based on your age (or your spouse’s, if they are older), and the amount of coverage, while your children continue to receive coverage free while they are still completely financially dependent on you and are under either 20 or 25 years of age. The plan will pay for your spouse’s or childrens’ funerals while you are alive, but this benefit ceases when you, as the main member, die.
You can pick any amount of funeral coverage from R5,000 to R20,000 when you are choosing your plan, bearing in mind that a double payment on this coverage will be made if you die accidentally. Suicide, of course, is not considered to be an accidental death under Avbob’s Funeral Assurance. The premiums are calculated to be affordable regardless of which amount you opt for, though they are naturally higher as your benefit amount approaches the maximum.
You can only enroll in the Avbob Funeral Plan if you are 64 years of age or younger, although your benefits will remain in place once you reach that age assuming that your initial enrolment already occurred. There is a waiting period of half a year after your enrolment before funeral benefits will be paid as a result of your death from natural causes, though benefits will still be paid in this period if you perish from accident, homicide, etc.
Premiums are not fixed, but increase over time as you age, with recalculation occurring annually on the date of your initial purchase. The policy literature gives you information on how the premium is calculated so that you will not be caught unawares by unexpected changes.
Since Avbob Funeral Services Limited is also a provider of burial services, members of the Funeral Assurance plan receive a free coffin at the time of their death if they arrange to have their funeral conducted by Avbob. Several other funeral-related services are also provided gratis in this case. You also have a 30 day period after enrolment to consider your membership and cancel free of charge if you decide to – assuming that no benefits have been paid.
